How to Reach Pathiramanal Islands from Kochi ( Vytilla):

Kochi (Vytilla Jn) - Cherthala – Thannermukkam Junction- Kayippuram Boat Jetty- ( Boat Journey 10 mnts)- Pathiramanl island. It will take maximum 1hr 15 minutes from vytilla to reach Pathiramanl island.
Reach Kayippuram Boat Jetty. There are number of motorboats available from 2 seats t0 20 seats .
Boat Charge: Rs. 600 up to 1.5 hrs. (4-8 seater motorboat).
Note: If clubbing with Kumarakom trip, Pathiramal can be reached through Kayipuram which is just 13 kms from Kumarakom.

About Pathiramanal:

Pathiramanl is a small island located in Vembanad lake of Alleppey district. The name Pathiramanal means 'sands of night'. It is home to many rare varieties of migratory birds from different parts of the world.

Reality about Pathiramanal ( What I felt Personally):

Location: At Vembanad lake in Kumarakom- Muhamma Boat route.
Things to do: Nothing as special. Its poorly maintained Government Island. Not suited for couples or single traveller. Good for groups. No recreation facilities available as of now. If you want to be in a lonely island- its an ideal place. Only good thing I have found in Pathiramanal is a walk way from entrance to other end – 1.1 kms stretch.

Tips:

1. For small family with Kids – Can be avoided.
2. Large family/ friends get together – Its ok.
3. If going, take enough water to drink.
4. Suggested time: Anytime from 8 am to 5 pm..
5. Good location for crazy bird watchers.
6. Take umbrellas.

Fish Lovers choice- Hotel Smitha- “Vaider Kada”

Even though I came to visit, Pathiramanal island, I can rate No. 1 spot to be visited near Pathiramanal is Hotel Smitha ( Locally known as “ vaidar kada” in the name of the properetor Mr. Vaidyar). This small hotel (actually similar to a traditional Tea shop) is famous for fish items. More interesting thing is that we get many varieties of fishes (available in star hotels) at cheap price. If you are fish lover, then it is the spot for you. No doubt.

St. Mary’s Forane Church- Pulinkunnu

St. Mary’s Forane church is an excellent place near Alleppey to spent your evenings. This church ideally located near the lake. Location is so scenic and many films have shot here including the Tamil Movie “ Vinayithandi Varuvaya” by Silambarassan and Trisha.

How to Reach Pulinkunnu

Kochi (Vytilla Jn) - Alleppey- Nedumudi- ( Take left )- 5 Kms- Pulinmunnu Church- 95 Kms- 2.5 hrs.
If you are travelling after Pathiramanal, take route towards Alleppey through Muhamma and reach Alleppey Changanssery road. Around 21 kms from Alleppey.
The last stretch to church is a beautiful stretch covered with lakes and narrow channels of water bodies.
